DE HAAN

Experience

Sea and beach
Are the sea and beach high on your wish list for an ideal holiday destination? Then tick that box, because we have the longest beach on the Flemish coast: more than 10 kilometres. Relax in your deckchair while the children play in the sand and sea. The beach is the perfect place to make wonderful memories!

Dune forests
The dune forests of De Haan, directly opposite the Bois des Dunes holiday home, are one of the green gems of the coast. You can walk through the 152-hectare forest to the beach or to the centre of De Haan or Wenduine, and there is also the signposted Duinbos walking route.
Numerous cycling routes start in front of the house in the direction of Ostend or Blankenberge to Cadzand.

Residential area 'De Concessie'
Take a stroll through time in the historic villa district. In 1889, the Belgian State granted a 90-year leasehold (concession) to private individuals for 50 hectares of dunes between the tram line and the sea. Among other things, you can see the Villa Savoyarde, where Albert Einstein stayed in 1933 (Shakespearelaan).

Water sports

The beach club is located in De Haan and is the ideal spot for your favourite water sports, combined with a beautiful white beach that connects to the stunning natural dunes along our North Sea coast.

They offer a wide range of services and activities, such as introductory lessons, week-long courses during the summer months, training, rentals, competitions, rescue services, youth cocktails, barbecues and festivities.
On the long, expansive beach of De Haan, you can not only enjoy the sun and the sea, but also take part in a wide range of exciting sports activities. A selection of the offer includes catamaran sailing, dinghy sailing, surfing, bodyboarding and skimboarding, sea rafting, wakeboarding, waterskiing, banana boat rides, and motorboat trips. And if you prefer some fun competition on the sand, there’s plenty of beach entertainment to enjoy. Think beach volleyball, football, frisbee, and even special children’s activities for the little ones. There’s something for everyone!"
